Medicine: Gold is most notably used as a treatment for
rheumatoid arthritis, although newer drugs have supplanted it as the treatment
of choice. According to the University of Washington, Gold helps to relieve
joint pain and stiffness- in some cases it has been observed to prevent bone deformation. Additionally,
Gold is used in treating cancer. Some anti-cancer drugs have trace amounts of
gold in them that help to attack tumors.
Gold Side Effects: Gold has many side effects when used for
medicinal purposes- Starting with skin rashes, a metallic taste in the mouth, mouth
sores and thinning hair. More severe side effects of treatment include damage
to your bone marrow, kidneys, liver, intestines and lungs.
